Evil Aliens

I saw the trailer for Evil Aliens, the new film starring Norman Lovett last night. It looks, erm, OK... well, it looks like it's trying to be Shaun of the Dead basically. It also looks like it was shot on digital, but I could be wrong there.

I think my general thought was "I don't know what to make of this...". Which is probably not a good sign. Anyhow, 10th March, Certificate 18.

In other movie news, Date Movie The Movie looks rather trashy, but also strangely funny...

Date Movie stars the divine Alyson Hannigan, so I'll be seeing it, as least.

Is that her in the ad in a fat suit? I didn't get a proper look last time it was aired.

To be fair, I'll be seeing it because it looked like a happy hour and a half of fun taking the piss out of all the other films of this genre. Dumb sensless comedy never hurt anyone.

And because I don't have to pay.

Maybe she just comfort-eats now that her Buffy paychecks aren't coming in.

Yeah, I wanted to see it for the same reason, but the reviews have made it out to be utter, utter shite.

I was also cheated by American Pie 3, given that she was only in it for about five minutes. Unfortunately, since Buffy and the first two AP films, she really hasn't been very good at picking her material...

This gets an absolutely lousy review in Empire this month. And it's written by Kim Newman, who's not exactly a slouch when it comes to horror, cheap schlock or otherwise. He says it basically comes off like a bunch of guys down the pub trying to do a Troma film, but without any of the charm or lightness of touch.

But then, it's got Boof in it, so it was never going to be particularly good. Nothing against Boof, she's great, but she's NEVER in anything good.

there's a lot of politics between Jake West and Kim Newman, just as there is with Alan Jones (hence his slating of it in Film Review)
