I can't think of any reason why a toaster shouldn't be able to provide light conversation for you whilst toasting various bread-based products for your breakfast (or any other meal). Also, it could update you on the morning's news or provide you with your bread inventory - 'warning, you are low on muffins, would you like me to place an order on muffinthemail.com?', and that's just an example, think of the possibilities...
