My hands are up... oop, my hand is up

About this whole Norman Lovett as Davros thing... erm... well, sorry!

I was incredibly bored one evening and was toying with the idea of adding my name to IMDb so I could try and add myself to the cast list of Doctor Who for a laugh. When I realised I couldn't be bothered to create my own profile I just decided to test the IMDb filters another way and submitted Norman as playing Davros in the final episode of Doctor Who.

I didn't expect it to even get posted on the database, let alone be discussed (and in some cases taken seriously) on the WebBoard, BTLi, Outpost Gallifrey, Digital Spy and various other boards. I just feel sorry for Norman as he must have got tonnes of people pestering him about this via email...

Still, you gotta laugh.

You know your trouble? You're a git.

Who's James Melody then?

By Nik Horne on 06-06-05 @ 22:24

No idea about James Melody as The Watcher. Someone posted a very convincing reason on OG why this could be a disguised credit for The Master, but I can't find it now.

It's entirely possible that it's a different Watcher, and not the white cladded stalker from Logopolis, though.

By Cappsy on 06-06-05 @ 22:28

I pissed myself laughing when I first read that Norman was meant to be Davros! Fucking hell that'd be funny. I highly doubt Davros is actually going to appear in either episode 12 or 13 anyway. He's always fucked me off, trundling along in his grannymobile, mouthing off. The Daleks are much better without him. Unless the character was totally reimagined, but why bother when you can just have the Dalek's kicking unholy ass on the human race.

By performingmonkass on 06-06-05 @ 23:40

I'm sorry to sound a spoilsport, but it's things like this that make the web a less trusted and more pointless place. IMDb can only rely on people being truthful.

By Mr Flibble on 07-06-05 @ 08:12

Have to agree with Flibble there. You've probably implanted the idea in several other people's heads now. Well done.

By Smeghead2044 on 07-06-05 @ 11:16

I'm sure Tim Berners-Lee is hunting me down with a crossbow as we speak.

By Cappsy on 07-06-05 @ 11:46

Norman did say that he does not play Davros in Dr Who, and asked if I can let people know, then they stop emailing him about it.

By Paul on 07-06-05 @ 15:30

"Norman did say that he does not play Davros in Dr Who, and asked if I can let people know, then they stop emailing him about it."

Yes, thanks for that Paul, but I've already let people know this was a joke on several forums myself, thanks.

By Cappsy on 07-06-05 @ 16:27

I think it admirably shows the flaws in IMDB myself. To just stick things up as *facts* without even checking them is the problem, not what Cappsy did.

By John Hoare on 07-06-05 @ 16:51

> Norman did say that he does not play Davros in Dr Who, and asked if I can let people know, then they stop emailing him about it.

I've just found a name on the floor. I believe it was you who dropped it.

By Ian Symes on 07-06-05 @ 17:45

Dude dont pick that up! U dont know where Paul has had it!

By Mick on 07-06-05 @ 22:20

Mick!

By Cappsy on 07-06-05 @ 23:04

I still think he'd make a lovely Davros... Deadpan Davros - marvellous.

By Wend on 07-06-05 @ 23:07

"I still think he'd make a lovely Davros... Deadpan Davros - marvellous."

He certainly would! The thought of him as Davros pleased me greatly :)

By Cappsy on 08-06-05 @ 00:10

'Yes, thanks for that Paul, but I've already let people know this was a joke on several forums myself, thanks.'

Thats as maybe, but norman still asked me to tell as many people as I can, cos he's getting too much mail about it.

'I've just found a name on the floor. I believe it was you who dropped it.'

Name dropping? Norman is just a normal person like you and me... well... me anyway. I'm not name dropping, he's only an actor.

'I still think he'd make a lovely Davros... Deadpan Davros - marvellous.'

Yeah he would

By Paul on 08-06-05 @ 15:33

Cappsy is the future of comedy.

By Tanya Jones on 08-06-05 @ 15:44

> Name dropping? Norman is just a normal person like you and me... well... me anyway. I'm not name dropping, he's only an actor.

Which would explain why, the last time I saw you, you spent much of your time boasting to anyone who'd listen that you had his home and mobile numbers.

By Ian Symes on 08-06-05 @ 16:48

I said it because it made you jealous lol

By Paul on 08-06-05 @ 16:59

Heh! That was well funny! Norman as Davros!!

By jxh on 08-06-05 @ 19:02

What a cunt! :)

By Dave D. Davidson on 09-06-05 @ 00:51

Norman would be better as a dalek anyway. I think he would be funny squeezed into one of those metal bodies. Be difficult to take a piss in one of those things.

By The Farting Dog on 09-06-05 @ 19:04

Hot on the heels of his first comes Cappsy's SECOND TOS mention...

Norman has also been inadvertently causing chaos on the internet thanks to a rumour begun by a fan on the Internet Movie Database that he would play the part of the Dalek leader in the final Doctor Who story of the new series. "I haven't a clue where this rumour came from that I was to play Davros (whoever he is) in the final episode of Doctor Who!" the man himself told reddwarf.co.uk. Shame – a deadpan Davros could have been funny...

By Phil on 10-06-05 @ 13:31

Cappsy, you must learn to use your powers for good instead of evil.

By Pete Martin on 10-06-05 @ 15:54

> Hot on the heels of his first comes Cappsy's SECOND TOS mention...

You're a celebrity, Cappsy.

Well, on the net. And you weren't even mentioned by name. Maybe I should shut up.

By antipodean on 11-06-05 @ 04:48

Things have taken a turn for the bizzare:

http://www.badwolf.org.uk/revelations.html - Third link down.

"Surnames like Lowell, Lovel, and Lovett are versions of diminutives of "wolf" in Old French or Anglo-Norman, either from nicknames "wolf cub," or meaning "son of Wolf." They came to England with the Normans."

I apologise to anyone who's had to read through this exact same post in numerous forums but I'M SCARED!

By Cappsy on 12-06-05 @ 01:39

Stig Has Been Dead For Ages, Honestly.

By Austin Ross on 12-06-05 @ 02:25

~has look of fear frozen on face~

that's creepy.

By The Farting Dog on 12-06-05 @ 02:27

I've scoured around the Internet in a fit of self indulgance, and there's loads of theories about me being a BBC employee and how this link is proof of this. You can't really blame them for thinking this, can you?

However, this is 100% co-incidence. It's fucking messing with my MIND!

By Cappsy on 12-06-05 @ 02:31

Can I do my "This is very funny stuff" quote again?

By John Hoare on 12-06-05 @ 02:36

"Can I do my "This is very funny stuff" quote again?"

Proceed.

By Cappsy on 12-06-05 @ 02:38

This is very funny stuff.

By Ian Symes on 12-06-05 @ 10:58

Oi!

By John Hoare on 12-06-05 @ 11:50

Hmm.

By Seb Patrick on 12-06-05 @ 19:03

Ha ha!

I don't mean anything nasty Seb, but surely Who fandom is the worst for this kind of snowballing conspiracy nonsense?

By John Hoare on 12-06-05 @ 19:13

Wait a minute, how do we know that Cappsy isn't one of the myriad people falsely claiming to be responsible? He could have got wind of the hoax fairly early, and tried to take credit. We may never know who the real culprit is...

Alright, it was me.

By Ian Symes on 12-06-05 @ 19:36

Mick says there's loads of people taking credit for this. I don't care, really, because I'm incredibly pleased how much this has grown.

The problem is that not many people will truly beleve it was me, nor will they believe that I didn't know about the Lovett Bad Wolf thing.

By Cappsy on 12-06-05 @ 23:44

It's such an odd thing for people to want to take credit for. I mean, out of all the things you might want to do to impress people, they decided on this?

By John Hoare on 13-06-05 @ 00:11

Can you even verify that this is a Hoax? Perhaps the hoax is actually claiming that it is a hoax? After all Norman Lovett would never admit to being Davros as all BBC personnel have been told to deny anything in regards to the new series!

By Iain on 14-06-05 @ 22:48

...This is very funny stuff.

"Can you even verify that this is a Hoax? Perhaps the hoax is actually claiming that it is a hoax? After all Norman Lovett would never admit to being Davros as all BBC personnel have been told to deny anything in regards to the new series!"

This is most certainly a hoax. Learn to take things at face value... I mean, there's still people out there still believing Norman will be Davros, even when there're links everywhere pointing people to this page!

It was my hoax. Honestly.

By Cappsy on 15-06-05 @ 00:11

Well whoever was responsible should email Norman & apologise because he's not very happy.

By A friend of Norman on 16-06-05 @ 10:29

Fair enough, but on the other hand, it was nobody from here who posted his e-mail address on forums, encouraging people to pester him.

By Ian Symes on 16-06-05 @ 11:38

It certainly wasn't. In fact I made a point of TELLING people it was a hoax and encouraging people NOT to email him.

By Cappsy on 16-06-05 @ 12:20

Anyway, for those of you bothered, I've apologised to him now. Which is a damn sight more than the idiots who plastered his email address all over the net will have done.

By Cappsy on 17-06-05 @ 00:48

Well, I'm feeling a bit foolish getting all worked up about Norman Lovett being Davros in the last episode of Dr. Who. A hoax you all say? Yep, that's for sure!

For the record, I saw the info on the now revamped tvtome.com website plain as day. Unfortunately it is now revamped and no guest cast is listed so I'll have to wait a week and a bit to watch it in Canada.

By Ray Currie on 17-06-05 @ 16:21

Hahaha, I just found this entry linked to in the "Parting of the Ways" entry on Wiki. Excellent :-)

That's an NTS link and an OD link on there, then. I'm going to create a TM:YNYN entry and put a "Fan Film Competition" section into the main Dwarf entry, so I am...
